Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Review

This review has taken longer than I thought to produce. The shade wasn't right for me, and I didn't want to buy another one just incase the actual foundation didn't work for me. It wasn't until recently when I got my hands on The Body Shop's Whitening Drops I could actually get the foundation to suit my fair complexion. The shade I got is in the shade 120, and the next lightest one 115 is too pink toned. I need one inbetween (Australia sucks for shade ranges.)

For coverage, I can easily say its a full coverage foundation, thats not too heavy. Its medium weight I'd say as its not light either. I don't find I need to use much concealer with this as it covers most of what I usually cover.

I found this out the hard way - Don't use powder with this foundation as it will cake on your skin.

The foundation is directed to those who have normal to oily skin, which is what I have.

It lasts all day and does not fade.

Downside about this foundation is that it doesnt come with a pump, and I kinda wish it did as I always get out waaay too much.

RRP: $19.95 (Priceline)

What would I rate it: 8/10

Would I repurchase: Yes I would, I dont often use full coverage foundation, but this one I'm happy to use.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Leather Review

I know, this isn't really new. But I still wanted to do a review on it. Its good to have a few opinions on products on the interwebs.

Did I just type interwebs? I'm online too often.

But this review is on this shade (80 Creamy Beige) from the Maybelline Colour Tattoo Leather collection. Which is in stores now.

I have got reviews coming on the new Maybelline products just released in Australia - the Blushed Palette, the Vivid Matte Lipstick and the Dream Velvet foundation. Just waiting to get my hands on some more products.

The Colour Tattoo, Like the rest of the line is a Cream Gel Eyeshadow.

It Claims to last 24hrs, and this swatch shown in the picture above lasted 2 days.

The shade I chose, Creamy Beige, is a light caramel tan in a satin finish.

This is part of the Permanent Line.

Would I Repurchase?
Honestly, don't know. I love it. But I don't use it enough to repurchase. And I find that these dry up quite fast too.

Maybelline Super Stay 24HR Bold Matte Lips Review

These new Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Bold Matte have been out for a little while now, and I recently won a giveway on Maybelline's instagram (@Maybellineau) and won these 4 lippies and decided I would do a review on them!

They come in 3 shades, Hot Brown, Glamour Pink, Peach Cocktail and Fire Coral.

Upon first application, they appear glossy, not, like a satin finish like most matte lips I've seen.

The scent is rather sweet. I can't pick up on what it is though, but its sweet.

The doe foot applicator is bent, which makes for an easier application.

I found these took a while to dry on my hand, but on my lips, they dried rather well.

It is slightly tacky, but its not too bad, I've tried worse.

Dries to a Matte finish.

Would I repurchase:

Well Seeing as I only like one colour out of them all and I think I will rarely use the one I'm keeping. So maybe, I'm not sure.

Maybelline Dream Wonder Foundation Review

This foundation really made me curious about it when I first saw it, and I tried it and heres what I thought!

This foundation is made with sunscreen (I'm not sure how much) so its perfect for summer. Thats the only positive.

The foundation is so thin, it barely covers anything. Its also really oily.

After the first day of wearing it, it completley broke me out. Especially on the forehead where I rarely break out.

This is the strange part. It made my skin dry. I have oily/combination skin and it dried me out.

Would I repurchase?

Nope. I threw it in the bin. I don't even want to think about it.

Maybelline Baby Skin Review

Its been a while since this product hit our shelves, and I know I have done a review on this but my opinions have changed. But after using it for a month straight, I'm ready to give you my full opinions on it.

This primer is a pore eraser, meaning it claims to fill in all your pores and make your skin appear poreless. And I must agree on this as it hides many pores of mine and makes my skin look flawless before applying my foundation.

It has no scent like most primers which is great.

It contains alot of product, compared to other Maybelline primers (There are only 2 primers on Australian shelves) - it contains 20ml

It doesn't make my foundation fade during the day, infact I think it helps the lasting power. And staying on the topic of foundation, it really does help the application of the foundation which is good.

Would I repurchase this? Yes I would I love this primer and think it is worth the money even though its like above $15

Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow Balm

Todays review is on the new Baby Lips Candy Wow Balm.

These balms come in 4 Shades (In Australia, may be different overseas.)

They are lip balms in a crayon format with slight pigmentation.

They are scented slightly, but not to the extent where it is overpowering.

The packaging and lid sits tightly and firm together.

It is slightly tacky like most baby lips products.

It is very moisturising.

And it lasts a good half hour without food.

I would reccomend these products.

Maybelline Great Lash; Lots of Lashes Review

I think I did a review on this when I first started this blog but I thought I'd review it again because I've changed alot when it comes to blogging.

This mascara is my #1 Favourite Mascara by Maybelline.

It is a lengthening mascara and I think is the most perfect for a natural look.

It is also great at seperating each lash and is easy to grab the inner corner lashes, and makes the bottom lashes look great.

It says and on the packaging its a 'Great Lash Grabber' and I totally agree.

It is a buildable mascara, I only usually use one coat, occasionally two.

And its also safe for Contact Lens'.

-Hides- ANOTHER HAUL!

I know. I'm on a spending ban. But these things I needed because I thought they'd be good for travelling because they won't break and they aren't that heavy. So heres what I bought!

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer $15.95
Normally I would not spend that kind of money on something so small. But I just had to get my hands on this as I had heard it was pretty good. And its worth the money and the hype. Review coming on this in the next post!

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation - $16.95
This is what I mainly wanted on my whole trip. I think the size is perfect for travelling. I also have a review on this coming next week - either Friday or Wednesday. Most likely Friday as I have a feeling my Bellabox will be here Tuesday. Also I was going to buy this at Target, but my local Target had nothing in the makeup section. Maybelline, Nyx, Revlon and Covergirl had hardly anything so I left. But bought these 2 next babies

Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow Lip Pencils - $4.86 (Originally $6.95)
These were the only things I found at Target. Though I kinda wish I bought them at Priceline cause they are like $2.50 or something there. But oh well. I have the whole collection now and if anymore come out, you for sure know I'll be buying them.

So thats my final haul until August. I'll be shopping like mad in Melbourne!

Feel free to follow me on instagram to see what I get up to! - xobrontie

Maybelline Dream Smooth Primer Review

While I'm waiting for my bellabox to arrive so I can give you all a review on it, let me give you a review on this product I have been loving lately.

Maybelline Dream Smooth Primer Review

Sorry no pictures because I totally forgot! Same packaging as the Dream Matte Mousse Foundation though!

Okay. Let me just start off by saying this primer, is hella smooth and smoothes out my pores on my skin. I only use a tiny bit (As you should do when using primer cause a little goes a long way) and I just love it. It leaves your skin feeling as soft as a babies bottom!

Its gel like formula makes it easy to blend out and its not sticky or tacky.

I never noticed longtivity of my foundation, or whether it faded during the day, but I can say the foundation blends over the top really nicely. It blends just as well as the Benefit the Porefessional and thats saying a lot seeing as that product is almost triple the price of the Maybelline primer.

The price is a bit costly. Of course, over in America its cheaper, but here in Australia it retails at $15.95 (Priceline Cost) So I would probably only buy it during sales. Its only 7ml as well so you don't get that much in there.

It can be oily - Some reviews I read on the Priceline site said it was 'very oily' but I haven't had that problem and I have oily skin. It can only become oily if you put too much on. I use probably less than half of a 5 cent coin - if that makes sense.

Would I repurchase this product?

Possibly if its on sale. Not for the full price though. (I purchased it for 20% off during the Maybelline 100th Anniversary sale)

Top 10 Drugstore Products

I'm a huge fan of Drugstore makeup. I think there are some really great products out there. And here are my top ten! In no particular order at all..

Australis Velourlips:
I'm normally not a huge fan of matte lips, at all. But I must admit these liquid lipsticks are great. Theres a huge colour selection from Purple, to your average Nudes and is perfect for any skin tone. I own the shade Hon-uh-Lulu (I think thats how its spelled?) and I'd love to possibly get more.

Nyx Butter Lipstick:
I love Nyx Lipsticks in general. They (from what I have swatched) are all fairly pigmented and creamy, and this one is no exception. As the name suggests, its a 'Butter' Lipstick so the payoff isn't fully opaque but can be made to be opaque from layering. The one shown in the image is Candy Buttons.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Kajal Pencil:
Boy do I love these eyeliners. They are so damn creamy that you need to put in no effort to put it on your eye as it just glides on there. Nude is a cult favourite and is the hardest to find and I can see why as it is a true nude without making your eyes look dead. I own Nude, Black and Deep Blue and I always get compliments while wearing the blue.

Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream:
These BB Creams are a cult favourite and are one of Maybelline's best sellers. This is my third tube of it and I love it. The shade isn't exactly perfect but its nothing a little moisturiser can't fix.

Nyx Single Eyeshadow:
Okay so I must admit with this one I've only ever swatched the one shown in the image. But I'm in love. The white is the most pigmented white I have found to date. And I'm hoping to do a tutorial with it soon.

Maybelline Great Lash; Lots of Lashes:
This is my favourite mascara by Maybelline and I've tried almost every one and I keep going back to this one. I have a review coming up soon for this mascara so I'm not going into full detail but lets just say that its great.

Chapstick:
I've been obsessed with these lately and I use them all the time. They are so moisturising and smell great, which is a bonus.

Rimmel Hide the Blemish Concealer:
I've bought this concealer about 4 times and its one of the best drugstore concealers I've ever used. It really does hide the blemish and redness.

Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencils:
Of course these would be in here, they are for sure a cult favourite. Every beauty fanatic owns one.

ColourPop SuperShock Shadows:
Okay, yes, I know. You can't buy these in store. But they are so affordable that they are considered drugstore in a way. They are pigmented and creamy and so easy to apply. I want them all to be quite honest.

Empties #2

Time for another 'shit I'm throwing out' post. Just incase any of you were curious as to what I am throwing in my bin this week.

First item thats going in the bin is my old eyelash curler that I just bought at Daiso. Nothing too special about it. I have naturally curled lashes so I don't often use my curler too regularly and this was just getting old and I need a replacement.

All of these lipsticks either make my teeth more yellow than they are, or have no colour pay off and thats the reason why I am throwing them out.

I've had this for about a year and its just gone rock hard. As you can see in the picture you can see where I've forced my nail into it. Into the bin eyeliner.

I got this about 2 months ago to do one job, sharpen the pencils. It broke one cause its just not a very smooth operating sharpener.

Finally onto products I've actually used. I used this Moisturizing Day Cream by Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula and one it smelt delightful and two it left my skin feeling so good.

I had a love hate relationship with this mascara as you can read from my review here. The top lash mascara was difficult to use, and the lower lash mascara was easier to use. It has started to go clumpy so I'm throwing it out.

I am in love with this mascara. Its hands down one of my favourites by Essence just behind the (Big Lash Effect?) You can read my review on it here.

This product came in my first ever bellabox and to be honest...I tried using it but I'm just not feeling it. It tastes like crap and the colour just isn't pink enough. Its too red.

These are my Holy Grail wipes. I buy them all the time and will most likely buy them again. (Unless WotNot is cheaper....)

I was sorting through my drawers one day and found this, I had honestly forgot I had it. These wipes are fantastic, and - actually I did a review on them, here ya go

So there! Thats all the junk I'm throwing in the bin.

15 Facts About Maybelline

As it is Maybelline's 100th Anniversary, I thought it would be interesting to do some research on the brand and figure out around 15 facts about the brand. Lets goooo!

  1. Maybelline was discovered by a 19 year old man by the name of Tom Lyle Williams in 1915.
  2. He watched his sister Mabel apply a mixture of vaseline and coal dust to her eyelashes to give a more in depth look, and decided to experiment that with chemicals and soon after came his first product, lash-in-brow-line.
  3. In case you haven't been able to tell, he named the company after his sister who gave him the inspiration.
  4. Their first mascara was the first ever created called Maybelline Cake Mascara which came out in 1917, and their second mascara was called Ultra Lash in the 1960's
  5. In 1967 Williams sold the company to Schering-Plough.
  6. In 1990 Schering-Plough sold the company to Wasserstein Perella & Co. Who is it still with at this point.
  7. Their makeup factory is in Brooklyn.
  8. Maybelline got its massive boost when Lynda Carter (Former Wonder Woman) became its beauty and fashion coordinator. (Not sure why fashion also, but thats what the internet says.
  9. Adriana Lima, Miranda Kerr and Sarah Michelle Gellar are just a few of the former faces of Maybelline.
  10. The current faces of Maybelline are; Christy Turlington, Jessica White, Erin Wasson, Jourdon Dunn just to name a few.
  11. In 1991 the brand came up with the slogan 'Maybe shes born with it, Maybe its Maybelline'
  12. In 1996 L'Oreal bought Maybelline
  13. Brands associated with L'Oreal do not test on animals.
  14. L'Oreal also owns; Garnier, Lancome, Redken, Giorgio Armani, The Body Shop, Ralph Lauren and Urban Decay just to name a few.
  15. A few lines Maybelline have are; Eye Studio, Fit Me, Color Sensational
Bonus Point:

Their most popular products are their Baby Lips and their Dream Pure BB Cream Range.

I found this rather fun. I think I might do more research on other brands and do some 15 points on other brands too.

Maybelline Nail Polish Remover Review

Its been a while that I've been using this specific nail polish remover and I thought it was about time I give you all a review on it.

The proper name of this nail polish remover is 'Express Remover', I just call it a nail polish remover because it is essentially what it is.

This product is to me the fastest way to remove your nail polish if you are a lazy bum like me. Your nail polish will be removed in under 5 minutes I swear.

The inside of the container is filled with foam and nail polish remover.

Basically what you do is insert your finger and twist it side to side and viola! Your nail polish will be removed

All in all I find this a life saver as I am such a lazy bum and can't be assed to remove my nail polish half the time.

Have you used this product before?

#1 Empties 2015

New year, more shit to throw out. I've been collecting these items since January and decided its about time to chuck them in the bin. Lets see what I have...

Loreal Base Magique Primer: I quite liked this primer, as it was creamy. But I wouldn't pay full price for this.

Avene Blemish Lotion: It actually has a long name, I just forgot it and its already in the bin so I'm not getting it back out. But I didn't like this. I feel like it cause more acne than reduce it. I don't know. Maybe I was due for my monthlys (I'm on the pill so I don't get it) and thats what caused it but I really dont know.

Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream: Already bought a backup of this as I use it daily and love it.

Savvy Eyeliner: I hated this. The applicator was pointy and made the application streaky.

Essence Big Lashes: My favourite Essence mascara, will buy another for sure.

Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner: I did like this, It just dried up because I didn't use it for a long time....I will buy another one.

Seche Vite: Dried up within 2 months :( Will not buy again.

Covergirl Flamed Out Mascara: I really liked this mascara, I will buy if it goes back on sale.

Face of Australia Lip Crayon in Macaron: This broke on me but I hardly use it and I can buy another one for real cheap anyway.

Rimmel Smokey Noir: I've had this for years and its just starting to lose its quality

What have you thrown out recently?

Review: Maybelline - The Falsies; Big Eyes Mascara

Hey Guys,

So this mascara to me was a bit of a hit and miss. I love it, yet hate it at the same time.

Lets get onto the details:

So this mascara is a dual ended mascara having 2 sides. One side for your top lashes, the bottom for the lower lashes.

With it having 2 ends this made it difficult for me to use and made my application very messy.

I found it easier to apply it on the lower lashes than on the top lashes. So currently I am using it for that reason alone.

This is a volumizing mascara. Not a lengthening one. As my lashes became more spidery when I applied it. I'm normally not picky if it is lengthening or volumizing I normally don't care, but I hated the way my lashes looked.

The top brush is bigger and thicker, and the lower brush is smaller and thinner making it easier to apply.

This mascara is another one from the Falsies line. Which I normally am a fan of.

I wasn't too impressed and I feel as if Maybelline are going downhill a bit. I'm kinda leaning towards Rimmel a bit again. Step it up, team!

I give this mascara a 2.5 out of 5 stars and would not repurchase again.

Have you tried this mascara?

Keep Smiling,

xobrontie

Priceline Haul!

Hey Beauties,

So as soon as Mum brought the mail in the other week, and I laid my eyes on the Priceline catelauge to only find out they were having a 'Spend $60 Get a Free Bag of Goodies worth over $120 (or something) Deal' I couldn't resist.

Now, I'm not going to show what came in the bag, just because this post would be too image heavy and I don't want it to be, instead, I'm going to link you over to the glorious Jasmine from Sweetaholic Beauty's blog post about what the bag contains. Just click riiiight here.

My opinion on the bag - Eh. Wasn't that pleased with it. The foundation and BB Cream are way too dark for me. The lashes I won't use. Most of them I'm just going to use in a giveaway or end up selling because I just won't use it. It was pretty dissapointing to be honest.

But, here's what I got. Now I'm not sure of the prices of these, but it did end up a bit over $60.

First off, I had to grab some of my ultimate favourite makeup remover wipes by Neutrogena. I believe these were $2 off the original price or around about that anyway. And I needed some, because I don't like using my Wot Not ones, because they are too good and I cherish them too much to even touch. Second of all, I really needed concealer, and I've decided that, seeing as Concealer is something I cannot live without, I may as well just start stocking up. So I picked up the Australis Go Camo Heavy Duty Concealer which for some reason reminds me of the Hard Candy Glamoflauge (?) Concealer. Which I'd love to try. But. World problems. And then I picked up the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer Because I had heard some things about it and I wanted to try it out. Both concealers are in the lightest shade.

Also from the Maybelline section, they finally had the Colour Tattoo in Tough as Taupe available, and EVERY time I go to get it, it's sold out. And I was so lucky because it was the last one left too. Still trying to figure out how to use this one as its a bit more of a...I don't know, a warmer neutral? Than a darker one, which is what I normally go for. Might do a post on looks I have made up using this though. Swatches below

Finally I picked up a lipstick I have had my heart set on for a while, and I don't know why I didn't buy it before because I simply love this colour. This is Australis Lip Inject Lipstick in Grunge. When I first saw the colour in the tube (doesn't show up on camera) I was like "Ew this shit is gross, what the hell Australis" Because its actually a brown colour. But when swatched, its a gorgeous maroony purple. And I love these shades for winter/autumn.

Swatches of Tough as Taupe and Grunge.
I think my order may have come below, I don't know. But Mum and I both paid (well she paid, I didn't hehe) for our items together, and the lovely lady allowed us to buy 2 bags because we spent almost $200 in store #guiltyascharged.

But, yeah, thats what I got from Priceline. I wasnt really after that much, and I would've bought Essence stuff if this Priceline stocked Essence, but the one we went to was connected to a Doctors Surgery so it was a Priceline Pharmacy.

I think the bag deal has ended now? Correct me if I'm wrong?

But yeah. I'm gonna go and film a video now so I can upload it tomorrow :3

Keep Smiling!
