Australis Gems Collection Review

The Australis Gem's Collection was released early May of 2016, and featured some unique shades of Velourlips and Metallix Shadows.

There is a total of 4 Shades in the collection, a Taupe, a Blue, a Green, and a White.

I picked up the Taupe (Quartz and All) and the Blue (To-Paz or Not To-Paz) and I'm a huge fan of them.

The Blue is very much a Navy blue and requires a few coats to get to desired opacity. I found that when I wore this, and ate a greasy toasted sandwich, that this one did not budge at all. Easily lasted 12 hours. Which I was very impressed with.

The Taupe Shade is hard to describe as its not as nude as the bottle shows. I tried to research to find a way to describe it, but no luck. But its a nude with purple undertones, I hope I described it correctly as I suck at describing shades! I've worn this a few times and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it on me. I like it, but I'm not quite sure if I love it. But its a very unique nude that I don't own.

The shadows, I honestly regret buying. I hated them. I got the shades Girl On Sap-Phire (Blue) and Jaded (Green).

I wore these once, and not only are they very tacky, they transfered onto above my crease line, and smudged very easily. I would probably use these as a base, but not on its own.

Australis Banana Powder Review + What is Banana Powder?

Banana Powder is currently hugely raved about in the beauty community.

But a lot of people still want to know - 'What Is Banana Powder, and What makes it more special than regular face powder?'

Well, I wanted to know a bit more myself so here are some facts I found out about it:

It smells nothing like banana, in fact it smells like any other regular powder on the market.

The name comes from its yellow-ish colour.

The yellow helps to counteract dark circles, redness, and cover imperfections.

So yeah. Thats pretty much what a banana powder is. Most people use it as a setting powder, like I do. I basically place it where I put my concealer which is under my eyes, on my nose, between my brows and on my cupids bow and chin. So really in my T Zone.

There are tons of various banana powders on the market, but for today I will be reviewing one on the cheaper end of the market, by Australis.

This powder used to only be available in the AC ON TOUR Contour Palette but has recently been released on its own, along with the Highlighter from the same palette. It retails for about $14.99 and you can get it from Priceline, Kmart and now Coles.

This item claims to be Vegan and Cruelty Free. But I am not so sure about that as from my knowledge (Email me to correct me if I'm wrong.) It states on the back it is made in P.R.C, which is the formal name of China. Products made in China have to be tested on animals which is part of their rules which I honestly think is pathetic. So why state its cruelty free when it actually probably isnt?

I haven't tried many Banana Powders, in fact this is the only one I have tried, and I am quite happy with it.

It lasts during the day, and it doesn't fade or be patchy, or go horrible. It just lasts.

Its pigmented as you can see in the swatch above.

Autumn/Winter Picks 2016

Autumn/Winter have to be my favourite seasons. I'm just a lover of the cold seasons. I think its because I was brought up in Tassie where some days we wake up and its 1 degrees (Celcius) outside and I'm just so used to it. So here are my main picks for makeup this year.

Nivea Men Post Shave Balm: Yep I love this. My review on it went up last week if you are interested in reading it. I won't go on about it much.

Chi Chi Fabulous and Flawless Foundation: I have a review on this coming soon too. But for the price its a damn good foundation.

Mellow Cosmetics Blush in Bronze: I wasn't sure if I'd like this when I got it, but it has become me favourite blush. Its perfect for any look.

ColourPop Cruel Intentions: This is a gorgeous Mauve Blush. Thats all I lean towards on blushes, mauve tones.

Essence Soo Glow Highlighter in 01: Sad that Essence discontinued this. Cause this is amazing.

Ofra Lipliner in Wine
Essence Lipliner in Satin Mauve
ColourPop Lumiere Lipliner: These are all different Mauve Shades. I love them all individually.

NYX Plum Lipliner: Theres nothing left in this, I need another one. If only I can get my hands on it!

ColourPop Lumiere 2: Just bought this, its a tad darker than the original, and I'm OBSESSED.
Australis VelourLips in Doo-Bai and Bar-Tha-Lon-A: Both my current faves by Australis

Mac Velvet Teddy and Mehr: I use them both year round. So they are HG Status for me.

ColourPop Lumiere (Original): I have 2 of these, one lives in my bag, the other in my collection.

Chi Chi Viva La Diva in Checkin In: Very Similar to Velvet Teddy I feel.

ColourPop Central Perk, Deluxe and Rebel: I feel like I'll be reaching for these a lot

Kat Von D Monarch, Sleek Vintage Romance, Chi Chi Spices: I think these will be my most reached palettes. Especially the Kat Von D one.

Australis Matte Bronze Eyed Girl and Those Shmokin' Eyes Palette Review

Australis have recently came out with 2 new palettes, the Matte Bronze Eyed Girl, which is a neutral palette and the Those Shmokin' Eyes Palette, which as you can guess is for a smokey eye. Both palettes are Exclusive to Big W and Kmart and can be bought off the Australis website here.

I did purchase these products during my no-buy as Australis is a cruelty free brand - And I quite like their products and always get excited with new releases.

Both palettes are the exact same size as the Contour Palette, but they come with a mirror. So they are great for travelling.

Lets start off with the Matte palette...

As you can probably already tell by the name of this palette, it is a fully matte palette. With no hints of glitter or anything. This palette really reminds me of the AC ON TOUR palette (review to come) as the shades can be quite similar, especially with the middle shade on the top row, that is very similar to the banana powder.

As for the shadows, they come off as a bit chalky, but its nothing too bad I've had worse. They are insanely creamy and easy to blend but do take a while to build up the product to become fully opaque. I have been using this palette quite a lot recently and it will be in my monthly favourites.

As for the smokey eyes palette, I think I prefer this over the mattes. mainly because you don't have to build up the opacity, only for the 3 (well 4, but no one builds up a nude colour until its the shade in the pan, lets be real) matte shades in the palette. But i think its easier to build with these shades for some reason.

This palette comes with 4 mattes and 2 shimmers. The shimmery shades don't have much fall out and they are very opaque, the photos shown were only done with one swatch.

I honestly prefer this palette out of the two.

Top 10 Drugstore Products

I'm a huge fan of Drugstore makeup. I think there are some really great products out there. And here are my top ten! In no particular order at all..

Australis Velourlips:
I'm normally not a huge fan of matte lips, at all. But I must admit these liquid lipsticks are great. Theres a huge colour selection from Purple, to your average Nudes and is perfect for any skin tone. I own the shade Hon-uh-Lulu (I think thats how its spelled?) and I'd love to possibly get more.

Nyx Butter Lipstick:
I love Nyx Lipsticks in general. They (from what I have swatched) are all fairly pigmented and creamy, and this one is no exception. As the name suggests, its a 'Butter' Lipstick so the payoff isn't fully opaque but can be made to be opaque from layering. The one shown in the image is Candy Buttons.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Kajal Pencil:
Boy do I love these eyeliners. They are so damn creamy that you need to put in no effort to put it on your eye as it just glides on there. Nude is a cult favourite and is the hardest to find and I can see why as it is a true nude without making your eyes look dead. I own Nude, Black and Deep Blue and I always get compliments while wearing the blue.

Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream:
These BB Creams are a cult favourite and are one of Maybelline's best sellers. This is my third tube of it and I love it. The shade isn't exactly perfect but its nothing a little moisturiser can't fix.

Nyx Single Eyeshadow:
Okay so I must admit with this one I've only ever swatched the one shown in the image. But I'm in love. The white is the most pigmented white I have found to date. And I'm hoping to do a tutorial with it soon.

Maybelline Great Lash; Lots of Lashes:
This is my favourite mascara by Maybelline and I've tried almost every one and I keep going back to this one. I have a review coming up soon for this mascara so I'm not going into full detail but lets just say that its great.

Chapstick:
I've been obsessed with these lately and I use them all the time. They are so moisturising and smell great, which is a bonus.

Rimmel Hide the Blemish Concealer:
I've bought this concealer about 4 times and its one of the best drugstore concealers I've ever used. It really does hide the blemish and redness.

Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencils:
Of course these would be in here, they are for sure a cult favourite. Every beauty fanatic owns one.

ColourPop SuperShock Shadows:
Okay, yes, I know. You can't buy these in store. But they are so affordable that they are considered drugstore in a way. They are pigmented and creamy and so easy to apply. I want them all to be quite honest.

Australis Go Camo Review

Oh boy is this Concealer amazing.

Out of all concealers I have ever used I can for sure say that this one is the most Full Coverage just like it claims to be.

You only need the tiniest little squeeze of it, and a little goes a really long way.

It is a little bit tacky but nothing too extreme.

This concealer really does hide any imperfections you have on your skin.

This concealer is definatley worth the cheap price and is probably one i will certainly buy again.

Priceline Haul!

Hey Beauties,

So as soon as Mum brought the mail in the other week, and I laid my eyes on the Priceline catelauge to only find out they were having a 'Spend $60 Get a Free Bag of Goodies worth over $120 (or something) Deal' I couldn't resist.

Now, I'm not going to show what came in the bag, just because this post would be too image heavy and I don't want it to be, instead, I'm going to link you over to the glorious Jasmine from Sweetaholic Beauty's blog post about what the bag contains. Just click riiiight here.

My opinion on the bag - Eh. Wasn't that pleased with it. The foundation and BB Cream are way too dark for me. The lashes I won't use. Most of them I'm just going to use in a giveaway or end up selling because I just won't use it. It was pretty dissapointing to be honest.

But, here's what I got. Now I'm not sure of the prices of these, but it did end up a bit over $60.

First off, I had to grab some of my ultimate favourite makeup remover wipes by Neutrogena. I believe these were $2 off the original price or around about that anyway. And I needed some, because I don't like using my Wot Not ones, because they are too good and I cherish them too much to even touch. Second of all, I really needed concealer, and I've decided that, seeing as Concealer is something I cannot live without, I may as well just start stocking up. So I picked up the Australis Go Camo Heavy Duty Concealer which for some reason reminds me of the Hard Candy Glamoflauge (?) Concealer. Which I'd love to try. But. World problems. And then I picked up the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer Because I had heard some things about it and I wanted to try it out. Both concealers are in the lightest shade.

Also from the Maybelline section, they finally had the Colour Tattoo in Tough as Taupe available, and EVERY time I go to get it, it's sold out. And I was so lucky because it was the last one left too. Still trying to figure out how to use this one as its a bit more of a...I don't know, a warmer neutral? Than a darker one, which is what I normally go for. Might do a post on looks I have made up using this though. Swatches below

Finally I picked up a lipstick I have had my heart set on for a while, and I don't know why I didn't buy it before because I simply love this colour. This is Australis Lip Inject Lipstick in Grunge. When I first saw the colour in the tube (doesn't show up on camera) I was like "Ew this shit is gross, what the hell Australis" Because its actually a brown colour. But when swatched, its a gorgeous maroony purple. And I love these shades for winter/autumn.

Swatches of Tough as Taupe and Grunge.
I think my order may have come below, I don't know. But Mum and I both paid (well she paid, I didn't hehe) for our items together, and the lovely lady allowed us to buy 2 bags because we spent almost $200 in store #guiltyascharged.

But, yeah, thats what I got from Priceline. I wasnt really after that much, and I would've bought Essence stuff if this Priceline stocked Essence, but the one we went to was connected to a Doctors Surgery so it was a Priceline Pharmacy.

I think the bag deal has ended now? Correct me if I'm wrong?

But yeah. I'm gonna go and film a video now so I can upload it tomorrow :3

Keep Smiling!

Australis Velourlips Review and Tutorial!

Hey Beauties,

So yes, I'm a little late on the bandwagon for this particular item, but I've only just recently gotten around to using it. And you'll have to wait until the end of this post to see my opinion on it!

So heres a few pointers as to what this product is. I have done some research on it to learn abit about it, so, yeah!

  • The item, is obviously, Australis' Velourlips. Which is their own range of Matte Lip Creams.
  • The Velourlips comes in 5 shades; Mal-I-Boo (Pink), Tok-I-O (Purple), NY-CEE (Red) Par-EE (Nude) and Rio-D (Coral)
  • The hardest shade to find is NY-Cee
  • Is Vegan and Cruelty Free
  • Applies creamy, and dries to a matte finish
  • Smells like grapes (in my opinion)
  • Has 10ml of product inside
  • Is inspired by the city
  • It is neither a lipstick, or a lipgloss
  • Long wearing formula
  • Doe Foot Applicator
  • Comparable to the infamous Lime Crime Velvetines
  • Australis are working on making more shades to add to the collection.
I have created two looks using the lip product as the main focus.

As always, I have created quite a dramatic look on one eye, and a rather neutral, daytime look on the other.

For the dramatic eye I used:

Mary Kay (Shade Name forgotten) Lavender on Lid
Revlon - Violet Starlet - Crease
Deep Purple - Outter V
Black (Lighly) - Crease
Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner (Was not intended to look that dramatic, but it turned out cool)
Covergirl Flamed out Mascara.

For the neutral Eye I used:

Naked Palette:
Buck - Lid
Hustle - Crease

Covergirl Flamed Out Mascara.

My opinion on the product:

I highly dislike it. It REALLY hard to apply the damn thing with the applicator and it bleeds easily.
It also makes my already stained teeth appear more yellow - therefore I will not wear it out in public.
The purple also went into my mouth and stained my teeth.
It takes a while to dry, I was expecting it to be pretty fast drying.
It didn't feel matte to me at all. From what everyone said, matte lip products normally make you feel like you need a lip balm on top, all I could feel was creamyness.
It also needed quite a few layers.

Would I reccommend this to anyone? No, not really.

What are your thoughts on the product?

Keep Smiling,
xobrontie
