How To Start A Blog Part 1: Choosing a Name/URL

Hey Beauties,

So I've recently been reading a book based on how to start a blog, and I thought it would be a good idea to do this mini series on how to start one, so for those who are thinking of starting a blog can get some inspiration and ideas on how to start it.

Now for my regular viewers, you may be thinking "What the? Brontie this is a beauty blog?!" Let me correct you there. My blog used to be a beauty blog. When I changed my name to 'xobrontie' I changed my blog theme to beauty/fashion/lifestyle. And I do see this series to kind of be a lifestyle series, and it is blog related so I can't see why I can't do it.

This series will be in 7/8 parts. Depending on how I pair all the sections. I will only be posting 1 part each week. And it is not just based around running a beauty blog.

Today's part is based around choosing your blog name/url.

If you don't know what your url is, its your website address. For instance, mine is www.xobrontie.blogspot.com.au. And my blog name is xobrontie

There are some key points I have found are best for when it comes to choosing a blog name/url

Make it Unique and Stand Out
Don't make it something basic. Make it something that you think will attract viewers.

Have it something that relates to your blogs theme
Some bloggers do have their names relating to their blogs theme, this is optional to do, but don't go having a name like "Mrs Harry Styles" if your blog is about shoes. It will attract the wrong crowd if you hear what I'm saying.

Don't make your name too long, or too Common
A common name is something like my old name which was "Brontie's Beauty Blog". So many bloggers have their name somewhere along the lines of that. And to me, just seeing it over and over again gets plain old boring.

And don't make your name too long. Don't have it as long as something like this; myfavouritebrandisrimmel. A name like; danceinthesunlight  is 100% fine though.

If you are stuck on what to call your blog, think of things that surround you on a daily basis.

Whats your favourite colour? What kind of day do you like? What is your favourite animal? What is your name? What is your staple piece? What makes you happy? What is your favourite emotion?

If you aren't sure on a name, feel free to ask someone! If you feel ashamed, or weird asking a friend, feel free to ask a blogger. We are all willing to help someone start this joyful hobby. The more the merrier!

A Christmas Inspired Tutorial.

Hey Beauties,

Todays post is a little tutorial I made up thats inspired by christmas. Its a pretty easy tutorial and it isn't too much of a crazy look either.

Ignore the black mascara mark (thats what I get for having long lashes DX) but this is the simple look.

I basically just took a matte dark green and applied that into my crease as the crease colour, I then used Sugarpill's 'Tiara' pigment and applied that all over my lid. I then took a matte black and added that into the outter v. I then finished the look with a thin liner and some mascara.

Hope you guys enjoyed this quick tutorial. I'm thinking of recording some videos and using that as the tutorial instead of writing it down in a blog post, cause I don't know about you, but I prefer to see tutorials in action rather than it being written down.

The next tutorial will be up either monday or tuesday, depending on how long it takes to edit and upload to youtube. But my next idea is pretty killer.

Also, I think you guys should check out Taylah's (if the link doesn't work I'll fix later, internet has almost ran out) Youtube channel. She's got this freaking amazing tutorial coming up within the next few days. I'm hoping to maybe achieve something similar to what she's done cause what she's doing is amazing (I've already seen it hehe)

Bellabox September

Hey Everyone

 

 

 It finally arrived! My September Bellabox. I've been waiting for the past week for it to arrive because I knew it was going to be fabulous, and guess what, I was right!

This box came with so many goodies that I will be certainly using, as well as a bonus gift. 

Before I get into the review. I want to state that Bellabox and the following brands are Not paying me to review them. This is my honest opinions, always have been, always will be. I paid for these product with my own money. The total of a Bellabox subscription is $15 a month with free shipping.

First of all is the face mask. This face mask is the Montagne Jeunsse Blemish Mud Masque. I recieved the sample pack which is 5g. The full size which is 10g is only $3.99 at Priceline, Big W, Target and selected pharmacys. I have another product by this brand, but as of this stage, I have not tried it. But I will be soon as I was just thinking a few days ago, I wanted to use a mud mask. Also, is it me or is the woman on the packaging just scary! And another thing, please excuse my nails!!

 The Elegant Touch Envy Wraps are seriously amazing. I'm going out with friends this week and I am considering using these, but I already had my outfit planned so now I'm confused as to what to do. I will be doing a post on my evening look that night anyway, so we shall soon see. But these nails stickers are a full size pack, costing $8.99 at Priceline, the design is so elegant. It has yellow, purple, green and pink polka dots with a tiny diamante on each....er...nail? I love anything to do with nails so these will certainly come in handy.

Of course, every girl needs a razor. This is the Schick Hydro Silk Razor, and as you can see from the picture it is 1 razor and cartridge. This would originally cost $9.99. I am just about finished with my other razor blades so this is perfect for me to replace my old one with.
 

Manicare's Glam Eyes False Eyelashes are what I was most excited about. The packet is normally worth $11.95 and I would never buy false eyelashes for that price. I have never used false eyelashes in my life, but this Thursday I am keen to try them....it will probably include failing as well. The eyelashes are 'Kelly' style and they cross over each other. Perfect amount of flare. So excited for these

Footcare Gel Ball of Foot Cushions. Now these will come in handy for me, at some point. I rarely ever wear heels, and when I do, i need something like these. This is worth $8.99

Now I don't tan, when I tan I become an orange. This is because I am extremely pale. This product is Garnier's Ambre Solaire Natural Bronzer Spray. This is the full size bottle and costs $14.95. I won't be using this, however, my mother is very excited to.

ASAP is a brand I have never heard of before. But they must be good if they are expensive. This is an eyeliner in the shade brown. It retails at $20.00 and that just suprises me. I will certainly be using this.

As a bonus gift this month, all subscribers were sent the newest issue of Cleo Magazine. I haven't read it yet, but I am really looking forward to it. The issue has Emma Watson on the cover and has some samples of Revlon's Nearly Naked Foundation on the inside which I can't wait to try. The magazine is worth $6.95

When you add all the prices up, this box has a total of $81.82 products. This is the best Bellabox I have received as of yet. I cannot wait to use all the products and read the magazine.

Gotta Start From Somewhere!

Welcome to Brontie's Beauty Blog. As my first post I'd like to do a little about me :)

Starting with the basics; Obviously my name is Brontie, I'm a 19 year old student from Hobart, Tasmania. My hobbies include photography, beauty, spending time with my cats and of course, shopping!

I decided to start a blog because I love beauty and photography. So what do you get when you mix photography and beauty? A beauty blog!

I don't aim to get anything out of this blog, I'm just purely doing it for fun.

As for beauty, here's a few of my favorites.

My favorite brand would have to be Rimmel. They are the first brand I ever tried and they have never disappointed me. And compared to Revlon, Maybelline and such, they are quite cheap - not as cheap as Essence or Ulta3, but pretty close!

My favorite lipstick would either have to be Essence - All About Cupcake #53 or Rimmel - Nude Pink #206. They are both similar to my actual lip colour so they just ass that hint of shine.

My favorite lipgloss is Sally Hansen's Natural Shine Lip Gloss in Sweet Nectar. It's a nude/rose pink. Again, a similar colour to my lips.

My favorite blush is Maybelline Mineral Power Naturallu Luminous Blush (What a mouthful!) in Soft Mauve. Its the only blush I currently own.

My favorite eyeshadow is actually an entire palette. Its Urban Decay's Mariposa Palette. It has a great selection of neutral and bright eyeshadows.

My favorite eyeliners are; for liquid it is Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner. I really reccomend this product as it is easy to use. For pencil its Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in 01 Black Fever. This is a recent purchase of mine, but I only got it due to having another one in a different shade and i loved the way it applied. It is long lasting and glides on easy.

My favorite mascara has to be Maybelline's Great Lash range. I've tried them all and love them all. Infact, any mascara by Maybelline is pretty good.

My favorite foundations are for a BB cream, I reach for my Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream. I have the 2% Salicylic Acid version and I love it. It does cover up like it says it should, and it doesn't encourage acne to grow on my acne prone skin. My other foundation favorite is Revlon's Colorstay Whipped. Everyone has their own opinion on this. I personally think it is a tad thick, but I can work with it. It gives me the best coverage out of foundations i have previously used.

And finally, my favorite concealer is Rimmel's Hide The Blemish Concealer. And yep. It does hide the blemish, and the redness.
